Getting You Back to Work

Function-based Recovery

Active Recovery Leads to Faster Healing

At Concentra, we believe that returning to work after an injury benefits our patients not just professionally, but also personally. Staying active and returning to work gives you a positive self-image, improves your relationships, and even speeds up recovery. But we know that going back to work after an injury can be concerning, and we’re here to help you every step of the way.

    How we Treat

We’re focused on “active recovery”—in other words, doing as much as we can to keep your injury from disrupting your everyday life, without compromising treatment. We encourage you to do as much as you are able to do safely, as that is the best way to promote healing and avoid losing muscle tone and strength.

    Did You Know?

Long-term absences impact physical, mental, and social well-being negatively! A study found that a long-term absence from normal routines, including work, can severely impact your health. It’s equivalent to smoking 10 packs of cigarettes a day and a 20% increased risk of death.

      Industrial Athletes

When professional athletes are injured on the field, their goal is to get back in the game—and to work—as soon as it’s safe. And that’s how Concentra treats injured employees, whom we think of as “industrial athletes.”

We want you to be able to get back to work as soon as it’s safe. This means that instead of recommending leave, we may recommend some type of modified duty. Our physicians and physical therapists will work with you throughout your recovery to make sure that everything is going well. We will also talk with you about any concerns you may have about going back to work or getting injured again. Our goal is to provide the information and guidance you need to live a healthier, safer working life.
