What Is Medical Surveillance?

Due to the nature of their work, some workers are at risk of being exposed to—or are regularly exposed to—various hazards. Medical surveillance examines and monitors these workers to make sure that they’re as safe as possible on the job. Tracking monitored results shows the effectiveness of an employer's safety and prevention program. This helps reduce occupational injury and illness over time.
