Concentra Launches Telemedicine Solution for Workers' Compensation

ADDISON, Texas — March 29, 2017 — Concentra, the nation’s largest provider of occupational medicine, today announced the availability of its new telemedicine platform, Concentra Telemed. Concentra Telemed is the first telemedicine product designed with an integrated approach for occupational medicine, helping to make the workers’ compensation process easier for payors, employers and their employees.

Concentra Telemed leverages the company’s 35+ years in occupational medicine and workplace health to bring simple, trusted medical care directly to employees via a virtual connection and Concentra’s experienced physicians. The virtual physician visit allows injured workers to be seen by a physician and receive a diagnosis quickly, without any new equipment required, eliminating the need for transportation to a medical center. This is a key step in patient satisfaction, improved productivity, while limiting costs to the employer.

“As part of our commitment to occupational medicine, the introduction of our telemedicine platform represents a significant advancement to meet the needs of our clients, and deliver innovative products and services that improve the lives of America’s workforce,” said Concentra Chief Executive Officer Keith Newton. “Today’s launch combines the most advanced telemedicine technology platform with the largest network of occupational medicine providers and will integrate with Concentra’s existing electronic health record and practice management technologies utilized in its 300+ medical centers. We plan to leverage our medical center footprint where applicable for any follow-up treatment, specialist care, or physical therapy when needed.”

While others in the market have introduced similar platforms that connect with affiliated physicians or other care networks, Concentra Telemed presents a platform, providers, and medical centers integrated and united under one trusted name focused on occupational medicine.

Concentra Telemed is initially launching in California, with plans for expansion in the near future. Telemedicine preserves the confidentiality of the patient-physician relationship with secure, HIPAA-compliant transactions, and is an accepted application of medical care in most states. By expanding Concentra’s experience in caring for employees with this new platform, the company adds to its service delivery and options to meet payors, employers’ and employees’ needs, and further strengthens an already expansive national footprint.
