Making Fitness Fun
Staying fit is important, especially when you spend a lot of time sitting at work, at school, or at home in front of a TV or computer screen. As parents, we can help our children build healthy habits by finding new ways to make fitness fun and get active.
How can I make fitness fun for my kids?
Take an active vacation. Plan a trip that includes hiking, biking, skiing, swimming, or other outdoors activities that you can do together.
Visit a local park. Take a football, a Frisbee, or a softball and mitt and play. Invite some friends to join, too. Remember: it’s not just about your kids’ health. It’s your time, too!
Hold a block party. Call your neighbors, and get together for fun and active games. From freeze tag to relay races to hide-and-seek to kickball, there are lots of activities to choose from that are fun for everyone.
Go for a hike. Find a local area where you and your family can go and hike for a few miles.
