05/06/2011

Concentra, a subsidiary of Humana, announced today it has expanded its customer base and reach with the asset purchase of Midwest Health Works, Ltd. (MWHW) in Willowbrook, Ill. The acquisition of this center expands Concentra’s geographic footprint to 15 centers in the greater Chicago area.

The former MWHW clinic in Willowbrook, located at 545 Plainfield Road, is now operating under the Concentra Urgent Care name. MWHW owner and provider James John, M.D., along with several medical staff members, providers, and non-medical personnel have been retained, building on their long-standing relationships they have developed within the community. The newest Concentra Urgent Care location offers occupational health services, as well as physical therapy, preventive, wellness, and health education services to current and new patients and employers.

Keith Newton, president and chief operating officer of Concentra, said, “This is an excellent opportunity to create an additional access point for convenient and quality medical care for patients and employers in the Chicago market. Midwest Health Works has a proven record of service to the community, providing comprehensive medical treatment for injured employees – a philosophy that parallels that of Concentra and ultimately results in tremendous benefits for our patients and clients.”

This acquisition supports Concentra’s extensive client base, its long history as the leading provider of occupational medicine to employees, and a growing demand for comprehensive health and wellness services. The company employs board-certified physicians, licensed therapists, occupational health specialists, and trained medical technicians to deliver exceptional heath care to patients across the country.

Existing MWHW patients will have access to quality and convenient health services at all 15 Concentra Urgent Care locations in the greater Chicagoland area. For a complete list of locations, visit our locations.
