Atlanta Medical Center Announces Collaboration with Concentra

01/12/2012

Atlanta Medical Center (AMC) recently announced a new after-hours program in collaboration with Concentra. Through this collaboration, Concentra, a subsidiary of Humana Inc., will now offer several enhancements to its care management services, designed to satisfy the specific needs expressed by Concentra clients.

Since medical care needs may arise during non-traditional business hours, AMC and Concentra have collaborated to offer employers in metro Atlanta an injury care coordinator and after-hours drug/alcohol test collection capabilities. A Concentra injury care coordinator will begin daily visits to Atlanta Medical Center and will regularly communicate updates back to the employer. Concentra’s new after-hours drug and alcohol program expedites an employer’s request for a DOT-certified collector who will be on-call subsequent to Concentra’s normal business hours. This certified collector will perform drug screens and breath alcohol testing at Atlanta Medical Center’s Emergency Department.

"This affiliation with Concentra will help streamline after-hours care to help get patients treated quicker," said Todd Goodall, chief business development officer, Atlanta Medical Center. "Like Concentra, our primary goal is to deliver outstanding medical care to patients in the Atlanta area. This is a natural complement to our services, since we already provide around-the-clock care to the region as aLevel 1 trauma center."
"Working with local health care systems in the many communities we serve helps to maintain a greater continuum of care, and ensure an efficient and outstanding service for patients and employers," said Concentra Chief Operating Officer Ted Bucknam. "Through this affiliation with Atlanta Medical Center, we can offer our clients expedited employee screening services, and timely updates about their injured employees."

This affiliation between AMC and Concentra is the first of its kind in the Atlanta market. Concentra operates 13 medical center facilities in the greater Atlanta area. Nearly 5,000 local businesses could benefit from these enhancements to Concentra’s care management services.
