The Medication Technician is responsible for administering medications to patients and maintaining related medical records. Verifies the identity of the patient receiving medication and records the name of the drug, dosage and time of administration. Follows all safety guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

•Assists/observes medications and treatments using the medication administration record (MAR) and the Six Rights of Medication Pass
•Documents and initials form as medications are given including appropriate documentation for refusal or missed doses
•Maintains confidentiality of all information including medication
•Reports all concerns made while assisting with the medication to a leader
•Assists in checking medication regardless of packaging system
•Counts all narcotics with another leader each shift
•Maintains and cleans the Medication Room, med charts, treatment carts for neatness cleanliness, availability of medications and expired medications
•Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

Qualifications

•High School Diploma or GED

Certifications and/or Licenses:
•Licensed Medication Technician certification to include Pediatrics
•CPR Certification
•First Aid Certification 
•MAT Certification
