Manage and execute on IT strategy as it relates to the functions of the Database Administration (DBA) and Middleware teams.  Provide daily guidance on prioritization of tasks. Provides visibility and leadership on major outages and deployments. Reports on function specific metrics to ensure progress and visibility of tasks worked.


  • Ensure the proper performance, availability, and scalability of the company's production databases and Middleware applications.
  • Effective use of database / Middleware monitoring tools and reporting
  • Provide leadership with timely updates, metrics and reports as required
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to staff personnel
  • Ensure all production database data is backed up and tested on a routine basis
  • Guide and direct the Middleware / DBA team in collaborative efforts with Developer team
  • Ensure the success of application architecture review, design, new environment setup, and deployments
  • Ensure policies and procedures are in place to comply with all legal requirements concerning data and application access
  • Provide daily direction and prioritization of tasks for all team members
  • Participate in management and budget meetings as required
  • Keep leadership apprised at all times on the health and availability of production systems

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field
  • Five or more years of database administration experience in production environment
  • Three or more years direct management experience
