The Systems Engineer is primarily responsible for designing, building, testing and implementing a VMware virtual environment that stretches multiple datacenters. All in accordance with the best practices/validated designs and technology direction of Select Medical. The Systems Engineer should solicit input from others to understand the broader business context of situations before finalizing technical recommendations. They are also primarily responsible for mentoring junior Systems and Infrastructure staff members and consultants. The Systems Engineer reports to the Manager of IT Systems.

  • DR Modernization
  • Manage virtual environments and managing previously built cluster(s).
  • Building VM clusters to include installing VMware and Virtual Machines (VMs).
  • Building server templates.
  • Developing and executing ESX patch strategies.
  • Manage and/or implementing High Availability architectures in a VMware environment.
  • Analyzing existing physical server resource consumption to determine server sizing and quantity requirements for Physical to Virtual migrations.
  • Analyzing virtual server resource consumption and recommending resource reclamation plans.

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • 5-7 year’s performing server hardware/OS/software installation and configuration (MS Server 2012/2019).
  • 5-7 year’s performing server administration in a large (500+) server environment.
  • 5-7 year’s experience managing large enterprise VMware environment (VMware vSphere/vCloud/ESXi.)
  • Familiarity with vxRail administration and management is a plus.
  • Knowledge of server OS and data disaster recovery strategies.
  • Thorough understanding of Active Directory and Group Policy administration.
