JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Director of Accounting will be responsible for managing the accounting activities for Concentra’s Centers, Onsite Clinics and Other Businesses through a solid understanding of business processes, systems and an in-depth knowledge of current generally accepted accounting principles and guidance.  This position will report directly to the Vice President and Corporate Controller.

Responsibilities
  • Identifies and implements best practices to improve current accounting processes
  • Collaborates with Regional Controller regarding expense fluctuations and status of close process
  • Coordinates the preparation and review of month-end close process
  • Coordinates expense analysis in support of month-end close process
  • Ensures timely balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Assists with accounting and due diligence for LTAC Hospital Division acquisitions
  • Plays a lead role in external auditor’s quarterly review and annual audit process
  • Responsible for distribution of standard month end reporting

Qualifications

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and coordinate monthly accounting, close processes and financial reporting for multiple medical locations, internal service and administrative departments and ancillary businesses
  • Supervise, develop, train and retain professional accounting staff
  • Provide financial liaison support to operational colleagues ensuring appropriate accounting of activity and meaningful analysis in support of operational strategies
  • Provide business combination support including technical accounting research, purchase price allocation, post-closing accounting and acquisition integration
  • Ensure compliance with current accounting controls and procedures
  • Identify opportunities to streamline the accounting processes
  • Represent the accounting/finance function on cross functional teams to ensure proper controls and compliance requirements are met
  • Provide guidance and support for financial audits by liaising with the external auditors

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Excellent customer service orientation
  • CPA in good standing
  • Strong technical accounting acumen
  • Minimum 8 years of professional accounting experience; some public accounting / audit experience preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of management experience
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strict focus on ownership, initiative and accountability
  • Critical thinking and analysis skills
  • Ability to dig in and get the work done
  • High integrity, ethics and work standard
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Prior multi-location and multi-legal entity, joint venture experience and operational accounting integration of acquisition targets
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Exceptional leadership, hiring and staff development skills
  • Experience with Oracle eBusiness Suite and Hyperion tools (HFM, Smartview, Essbase)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
