Ergonomic Services

Ergonomic services for the workplace

Ergonomics focuses on adapting the workplace to prevent injuries and disorders that result from the overuse of muscles, bad posture, or repetitive movements. Although industry-wide regulation has yet to be established, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has identified and set ergonomic guidelines for several high-risk industries including nursing homes, warehouses, data entry and computing centers, factories, and construction sites.

Ergonomics is a key factor in an organization's health and safety program, and the implementation of an effective workplace ergonomic program can include management commitment, training, worksite analysis, medical management, and risk assessment. Ergonomic services can benefit employers by improving productivity and morale, reducing absenteeism, and decreasing costs.

How our ergonomic services can help

Concentra offers three different types of ergonomic services from which employers can choose to develop a program that suits their workplace. However, it is recommended that ergonomic education be combined with evaluation and analysis. Concentra's workplace ergonomic programs include:

  • Ergonomic Education—An on-site ergonomic training session (usually 1 hour) that can be tailored to address supervisors, employees, or both audiences. Prior to the session, an ergonomic specialist will tour the workplace in order to develop an appropriate program.
  • Ergonomic Evaluation—A more comprehensive service than a simple tour, an ergonomic evaluation will usually result in written recommendations to minimize risk factors.
  • Ergonomic Analysis—The most in-depth ergonomic service, an ergonomic analysis is completed when an employer requests the development of a custom workstation or other ergonomic solution. As part of this process, an ergonomic specialist will also create risk assessment and associated cost-efficiency recommendations.
