Back Health
Back injury education
Back pain is one of the most common work-related injuries and illnesses, and many factors are associated with workplace back injuries. The majority of back complaints that result in lost time occur as a consequence of repetitive motion, improper lifting techniques, decreased physical conditioning, and overexertion. Some of the industries and professions where back injuries commonly occur include warehouses, moving companies, truck drivers, mechanics, maintenance workers, heavy manufacturing plants, and airlines (customer service and ramp personnel). Safe lifting practices can help improve low-back health in the workplace, as well as regular exercise and frequent stretching. Concentra can provide back injury education, as well as many other wellness and prevention services to aid in workplace back injury prevention for employees.

How Concentra can help
Our occupational experts offer two tiers of back injury education:
- Employee Education - A 30-minute to 1-hour session covering the causes of workplace back injuries, principles of lifting, demonstrations of proper lifting techniques, and back care basics (occupational and non-occupational).
- Supervisor “Train-the-Trainer” - A 1.5- to 2.5-hour class emphasizing the ongoing reinforcement of back injury education techniques—empowering supervisors to internally manage education and workplace back injury prevention programs. This session also goes into greater detail on the anatomy and physiology of the back, recognizing risk factors, and how to demonstrate stretching techniques.
