Mold and Dampness
Reduce the danger of mold and dampness
Mold and dampness seem innocuous but, when they enter a workplace environment, they become a danger to employee health. This is especially true when it applies to indoor environmental air quality in offices, confined spaces, and other facilities.
Dampness
Dampness results from water getting into a space through internal sources, such as leaking pipes or malfunctioning air conditioning systems, or by external means from rainwater or flooding. When high levels of moisture occur, there is a greater risk for the growth of mold and other irritants.
Mold
Mold (mildew) includes fungal growths that develop in the presence of excess moisture. When mold grows indoors, it releases spores airborne spores that travel through the air to create new colonies. However, these spores also create health issues for workers, including asthma and allergies.
