DOT Supervisory Training
Department of Transportation Supervisor Training
Concentra provides education and training for supervisors in DOT-regulated industries. We provide these services to help employers meet the DOT supervisor training requirements developed by the U.S. Department of Transportation for safety-sensitive employees and those driving commercial vehicles. We also offer a full range of on-site assessments to identify areas of improvement in health, safety, and compliance.
How Concentra can help
Today, all organizations must provide alcohol and controlled-substance abuse training for supervisors who manage employees with a Commercial Driver's License. This regulation applies to any safety-sensitive positions defined under the Department of Transportation, as well as the U.S. Pipeline Industry, U.S. Coast Guard, Federal Transit, Federal Aviation, and Federal Railroad Administrations.
The DOT supervisor training includes requirements for those who supervise workers in jobs such as public transportation drivers (e.g., bus drivers), shuttle services, hotel shuttle services, truck driver schools, warehouse distribution centers (e.g., truck drivers), railroad conductors, and heavy equipment operators, as well as other roles in the airline and transportation industries.
What you can expect
Concentra offers DOT supervisor training, to help managers identify and handle situations when an employee seems unfit for duty. Concentra's DOT supervisory training can be performed at the client's location, and covers the physical, behavioral, speech, and performance indicators of probable use of alcohol and controlled substances. This 2.5-hour course covers a comprehensive scope of topics. These include:
- Overview of the DOT’s revised drug/alcohol testing procedures
- Effects of alcohol/drug use
- Methods and intervention guidelines when a drug/alcohol problem is suspected
- Circumstances and procedures under which an employee is tested
- Consequences of a violation
In addition to the DOT supervisory training class, Concentra offers clinical services to assist in compliance, such as DOT physical examinations, breath alcohol testing, drug screen testing, random selection administration, medical review services, and DOT policy development. All of the DOT services (Employee/Supervisor Training and Policy Development) can also be provided for employers not covered by DOT regulations, as mandated in select states.
