Biometric Screenings

Improving health awareness

Biometric screenings are a critical component in any of our wellness programs; our Concentra health specialists use them to identify individuals who might have risk factors for future diabetes or heart disease. These results are communicated to each individual on a confidential basis and include recommendations on how to reduce those risk factors, which may include follow-up care or lifestyle changes. For some of your employees, a timely biometric screening can have a tremendously positive impact on their health, productivity, and well-being.

Because of Concentra’s versatility and nationwide reach, you’ll have the option of conducting biometric screenings at an on-site medical facility, a nearby Concentra medical center, or potentially an on-site mobile medical laboratory.

Each screening will measure these essential health factors:

  • Blood pressure
  • Waist circumference (abdominal girth)
  • Fasting glucose (the amount of sugar in the blood)
  • HDL cholesterol level (the amount of “good” cholesterol in the blood)
  • Triglycerides level (the amount of fatty acids in the blood)

Handling the results

We maintain strict privacy and confidentiality guidelines, and do not share your employees’ individual results with you, the employer. After the screening results are processed, your employees will receive a confidential report that indicates which, if any, of their five measurements are normal and which, if any, are outside the normal range.

If at least three of an individual’s five measurements lie outside the normal range, they’ll be identified as “at risk” for future diabetes or heart disease. “At risk” individuals will also receive a list of recommendations for lowering their risk, which may include follow-up care or lifestyle changes, such as diabetes self-management.
