Stress

Stressfree workplace

Today’s work force is under more stress than ever. With changes in working conditions due to technological advancements and the economy, occupational stress is a topic of growing concern for today’s employers. Oftentimes, job stress is the result of a mismatch between job requirements and the employees’ capabilities, knowledge, resources, or team support.

Stress, wellness, and the workplace.

While acute stress may be as simple as slight irritability, some workers experience prolonged periods of stress, leading to social and psychological disorders. These include emotional disturbances and psychological disorders, such as dissatisfaction, fatigue, tension, depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Other employees may experience stress-induced maladaptive behaviors, including aggression and substance abuse. Work stress is also associated with various other biological reactions that may lead ultimately to compromised health, such as cardiovascular disease.
