Influenza – referred to as “flu” – is a serious threat to the health and well-being of you and your family. Vaccination is the primary method for preventing flu and its severe complications.* You can get vaccinated at Concentra through walk-in appointments beginning in September.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says the flu season runs from October through March, and it recommends people in high risk groups receive a flu vaccination, even after flu may have already been reported in your community. It’s not too late!
The flu vaccination is generally safe and helps prevent flu-related respiratory illness, physician visits related to flu, hospitalization, and even death. The current flu vaccine is up to 90% effective in preventing the common flu and helps maintain a stronger immune system if a new strain of flu emerges.
If you become exposed to the flu, your physician may also recommend that you begin taking an antiviral medication. This medication doesn’t help prevent the flu, but it helps your body fight the infection so your flu symptoms may be less severe.
Use our Location Finder to locate the Concentra Medical Center nearest you. For your convenience and to avoid wait times, we recommend you call the Center before you go in. Ask about vaccine availability, pricing information, the best day and time to receive the vaccination, and any other questions you have.
