More than 3,000 full-time employees and dependents of Hobby Lobby, Hemispheres, Crafts, Etc!, and Mardel will be able to receive free medical care at theClinic. Those not enrolled in a Hobby Lobby group health plan will pay a $30 office visit fee through a payroll deduction.
"Our employees have always been a key part of Hobby Lobby's success, and we hope this is a benefit to them and their families that they can enjoy for the years to come," said David Green, Hobby Lobby Founder and CEO, in a brief address to the grand opening attendees.
Also in attendance were Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor Jari Askins and Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett. "Hobby Lobby is a great example of an Oklahoma City company stepping up and doing the right thing to get their employees healthy," said Cornett.
Procedures ranging from acute to chronic care will be provided at the health care center, which features three exam rooms, a nurse's station, a procedure room, and a wellness training room. Initially, one physician will staff theClinic along with a registered nurse and a medical assistant. Over time, the staff is expected to grow as patient visits and health care needs increase.
"This [national] trend of high cost and less access is a driving force behind the need for improved health care systems," said President of Concentra Health Solutions Mike McCollum. "Hobby Lobby is leading a change by investing in the health and well-being of its employees."
