Primary Injury Care

Primary injury care is treating non-emergency injuries such as cuts and bruises, injury from falls or lifting, abrasions of or foreign bodies in the eyes, and sprains of fingers, ankles, and other joints. When these injuries occur in the work setting, the supervisor or manager is typically responsible for directing the employee to the closest Concentra Medical Center for treatment.

How We Serve You with Primary Injury Care

Concentra's clinicians practice outcomes-based medicine, which incorporates accepted medical protocol and has set a new standard of excellence for the health care industry. This approach has proven effective in returning people to work, to play, and to life faster and more affordably, resulting in lower health care costs:

  • Assess the injury and the relative urgency of treating it (triage).
  • Question the patient to learn how the injury occurred, the medical history of the individual, and other important information.
  • Counsel the patient on next steps and what to expect, in accordance with our treatment philosophy that encourages continued activity, modified duty, and early return-to-work.
  • Direct the patient to return to work, see a Concentra-approved Specialist, or recover at home.

How You Benefit from Primary Injury Care

IMPORTANT

Although our medical centers and on-site facilities are equipped to handle most routine work-related injuries, workers experiencing traumatic or life-threatening injuries – especially major head trauma or loss of consciousness – should be sent directly to an emergency room.
