Primary Injury Care

Concentra defines primary injury care as treating non-emergency injuries sustained at work or home. Typical examples include cuts and bruises, back injury from falls or lifting, abrasions of or foreign bodies in the eyes, and sprains of fingers, ankles, and other joints.

When these injuries occur in the work setting, the supervisor or manager is typically responsible for directing the employee to the closest Concentra Medical Center for treatment.

How we serve you with Primary Injury CareHow we serve you with Primary Injury Care

Concentra's affiliated physicians practice evidence-based medicine, which incorporates accepted medical protocol and the best practices we’ve developed since the company's founding in 1979:

  • Assess the injury and the relative urgency of treating it (triage).
  • Question the patient to learn how the injury occurred, the medical history of the individual, and other important information.
  • Counsel the patient on next steps and what to expect, in accordance with our treatment philosophy that encourages continued activity, modified duty, and early return-to-work.
  • Direct the patient to return to work, see a Concentra-approved Specialist, or rest at home.
Concentra's focus on quality medicine and rapid treatment progression has proven to be highly effective in restoring health while reducing overall costs.

IMPORTANT

Although our medical centers and on-site facilities are equipped to handle most routine work-related injuries, workers experiencing traumatic or life-threatening injuries – especially major head trauma or loss of consciousness – should be sent directly to an emergency room.
