Flu vaccination is the primary method for preventing influenza and its severe complications.* Recent studies report that the flu vaccine:
- Reduces health care provider visits up to 44 percent
- Reduces lost work days up to 45 percent
- Reduces days working with reduced effectiveness up to 28 percent
Concentra provides flu vaccinations to employees either through company-sponsored on-site clinics or walk-in appointments at Concentra Medical Centers. This year, flu vaccinations will be available nationwide beginning in October.
The “flu season” runs from October through March, and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends people in high risk groups receive an influenza vaccination at any time during this season, even after influenza has been documented in your community.
The flu vaccine is safe, and with reasonable precautions, is considered the primary method for preventing influenza-related respiratory illness, physician visits related to flu, decreasing work absenteeism among adults, hospitalization, and death.
Scheduling an on-site flu clinic provides companies with the quickest and easiest solution to inoculate large groups of employees. Concentra provides all supplies and medical staffing, and reserves a pre-ordered quantity of vaccine for employees. Vaccine supply is limited, and on-site flu clinics will be scheduled on a first-call, first-served basis.
Companies and employees may also choose the flexibility of a walk-in flu shot administered at all Concentra Medical Centers, while supplies last. Vaccine for walk-in patients will be available beginning early December. Please call your Concentra Medical Centers location in advance of your visit to confirm vaccine supply.
