From the beginning in 1979, Concentra has placed the patient at the center of its operations. Strengthened by new leadership and new endeavors, Concentra has maintained its focus on creating positive outcomes for patients and customers. Throughout, it has operated with a commitment to integrity, a promise to improve patient health, and a focus on creating real-world solutions. Enriched by an unwavering dedication to provide great patient care, Concentra’s culture has become one of people first, and is supported by the company’s mission, vision, and core value statements.
Improving America’s health, one patient at a time
We will redefine patient care by treating individuals to a welcoming, respectful, and skillful experience.
We will raise the standard of health by putting individuals first, treating them with clinical excellence, and focusing on their ongoing wellness.
We will succeed through innovation and the expertise of our colleagues in an environment of trust, support, and community.
Here is a closer look at each of these statements and how they were developed:
Mission – The mission statement expresses why Concentra exists as a company. Clearly, healthcare is a major part of our lives: currently representing 16% of the nation’s gross national product (GDP), it has been growing at an annual rate of 8-10%, compared with the overall economy’s growth of just 2-3%. This growth highlights how unavailable the healthcare system has become to more and more people. Our country simply cannot sustain this explosive growth and needs real solutions that increase effectiveness while also managing double-digit cost increases. Every aspect of the Concentra enterprise is focused on this goal.
Vision – A vision statement defines how a company intends to implement and achieve its mission. Concentra’s vision statement goes hand in hand with our mission statement by describing how we create business and service solutions for our customers. We believe that our wide range of services and products, when combined with our customer service focus, truly does make a difference in the lives of thousands of people every single day.
Core Values – A company’s core values express both who the employees are and how they act. Jim Collins, co-author of the now-classic Built To Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies, says that core values are those things that already exist in the people of the organization; they are timeless and do not change, whereas practices and strategies may change all the time. These core values represent our employees and are the foundation on which this company has been built.
Great companies spend the majority of their time living out their mission statements. Concentra is committed to aligning these statements with what we are working on right now and what we need to focus on in the future.
